Youth Volunteering

The SPCA of Texas is happy to offer volunteering opportunities for youth between the ages of 10 and 18. Families are welcome to volunteer their time together. We request that volunteers under the age of 15 bring a parent or guardian with them to all volunteer shifts.

Volunteers under 12 years will not be able to participate in animal handling opportunities but will be able to assist with shelter support activities such as, prepping activities for pet enrichment, washing animal bedding, and working in our dietary area.

To sign-up for our volunteer opportunities you must pay the $50 Parent/Child team volunteer fee. This fee helps cover the cost of a background check, a badge, and training for one parent and one child. After your fee is submitted you will get an email with the link to the official volunteer application. Once your application is submitted someone from the volunteer team will contact you to schedule your first shift.

SPCA of Texas Voices

"I'm absolutely in LOVE with Kitty (formerly Kaleigh). I know her name isn't original at all but I just started calling her that until I could think of a name and it just stuck - it's so her! I've attached two photos - she's seriously the most beautiful kitty in the world! She loves to steal tennis balls and bones from her dog sister - she thinks she's a dog! She enjoys going for walks and car rides, snuggling with mom, bird watching, drinking from the sink, playing with her pipe cleaners and getting into mom's makeup in the mornings. I couldn't 'imagine life without her. She's the absolute best!"
