Surrendering a Pet to the SPCA of Texas
The SPCA of Texas is a managed intake shelter. We take in pets from the public as space permits. We do not euthanize animals for lack of space, and do not place time limits on animals waiting for adoption at our Animal Care Centers.
The surrender fee for dogs, cats or small mammals is $25
Completing the Pet Surrender Form adds your pet(s) to our waiting list for placement at one of our Animal Care Centers. We will contact you if space becomes available for your pet(s).
Please note that we receive a large number of surrender requests, and that we will do our best to bring in your pet(s) as soon as space opens up for them, on a first come, first served basis by animal type and size.
If you have not received a call from us within 30 days, please visit www.petfinder.com to find other resources and rescues around your area or you may submit this form again to place your pet(s) back on the waiting list.
Your local animal services shelter or local rescue may also accept owner surrenders. For more options, please see our list of other shelters that provide owner surrender services.
Please note that we do not take in strays in an effort to increase the likelihood of a stray being reunited with their owner. If you have found a stray animal, we ask that you contact your local animal services shelter for assistance.
