Pet University at the SPCA of Texas offers quality training classes and pet tips for pets and their people.


The mission of Pet University is to strengthen the bond between pets and their people and to retain pets in their homes through training and behavior modification.

Free Behavior Helpline

The behavior helpline is designed to help animals in their homes by providing owners with practical information

so that they can alter the relationship they have with their pets to a positive workable one. 

You will be contacted directly by one of our Pet University Trainers and provided with helpful information customized to help you and your pet.

All information sent and advice given is based on positive methods of working with your animal’s behavior.

Private Lessons

You and your dog will meet with our Pet University trainer at one of our shelter locations in Dallas or McKinney

 and received one-on-one attention to address your dog's behavior issue(s). 


Discount for dogs adopted from rescue or shelter within previous 12 months $60

Group Training Classes 

Basic Obedience classes will meet in small groups with a Pet University trainer to learn basic behaviors

such as sit, down, stay, walk nicely on a leash, and other useful skills.

Training consists of 6 classes, the first class is a 2 hour orientation for people only

followed by five 1-hour classes that meet once per week.

"I'm absolutely in LOVE with Kitty (formerly Kaleigh). I know her name isn't original at all but I just started calling her that until I could think of a name and it just stuck - it's so her! I've attached two photos - she's seriously the most beautiful kitty in the world! She loves to steal tennis balls and bones from her dog sister - she thinks she's a dog! She enjoys going for walks and car rides, snuggling with mom, bird watching, drinking from the sink, playing with her pipe cleaners and getting into mom's makeup in the mornings.
