Frequently Asked Questions:

Where will the bricks be installed?

New bricks will be placed on the plaza and walkway in front of the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center. The building is located near Hampton Road and 1-30, just across the Trinity River from downtown Dallas. The address is 2400 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, TX 75212.

When will the bricks be installed?
Bricks are installed quarterly in March, June, September and December.

Why are the bricks different shapes?
We have chosen a mosaic pattern for the bricks in the plaza and walkway, and the shapes and cinnamon colors of the bricks will complement the building’s architecture.

Will I be able to find my brick after it’s installed?
Because they’ll be in a mosaic pattern, the bricks won’t be in alphabetical order. As much as possible, we plan to install the bricks that are ordered first the closest to the front door, and then work outward. We hope you will want to visit our shelter and see your brick, and we will be happy to help you locate it.

Can you give me some specifics about your Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center?
The SPCA of Texas' Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center is a full-service animal care facility at 2400 Lone Star Drive near Hampton Road and I-30. The 39,000-square-foot center includes a spacious shelter for homeless animals, a fully equipped medical wing and surgery suite to care for injured animals and neuter healthy ones, welcoming playrooms and outdoor green spaces where families can connect with adoptable pets, and classrooms for humane education programs and volunteer training. The building also houses the SPCA of Texas' public call center, rescue and investigations team, education programs and administrative offices.

Is the facility a no-kill shelter?

The SPCA of Texas is a reservation-required, managed intake shelter. The SPCA of Texas does not euthanize animals for lack of time or lack of space and takes in animals as space allows. Each animal that is surrendered or transferred to us undergoes a complete health and behavior evaluation. Once we accept an animal into our shelter, he remains with us until he is adopteds.

What else does the SPCA of Texas do?
The SPCA of Texas is the leading animal welfare agency in North Texas. The independent non-profit organization operates two animal shelters, located near downtown Dallas and in McKinney, which, together with our community partners for offsite adoptions, find homes for 5,000 animals each year. We also operate two additional low-cost veterinary clinics in South Oak Cliff and in McKinney.

The SPCA of Texas receives more than 4,000 calls each year from concerned citizens reporting animal abuse and neglect. Our team of full-time animal cruelty investigators work with pet owners to help them comply with animal welfare laws, and we partner with law enforcement agencies to rescue animals from inhumane conditions. Moreover, the SPCA of Texas serves as an active center for services that bring people and animals together to enrich each others’ lives. Education and outreach programs reach more than 14,000 Texans each year with a message of compassion and responsibility.

"I'm absolutely in LOVE with Kitty (formerly Kaleigh). I know her name isn't original at all but I just started calling her that until I could think of a name and it just stuck - it's so her! I've attached two photos - she's seriously the most beautiful kitty in the world! She loves to steal tennis balls and bones from her dog sister - she thinks she's a dog! She enjoys going for walks and car rides, snuggling with mom, bird watching, drinking from the sink, playing with her pipe cleaners and getting into mom's makeup in the mornings. I couldn't 'imagine life without her. She's the absolute best!"
