The dogs were cruelly confined inside of a feces-filled, urine soaked house on the property. The goat was found in the backyard.

The animals appear to have varying health issues, including hair loss, and were covered in urine, feces, ticks and fleas.

On Monday, August 3, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office contacted the SPCA of Texas about six cruelly treated dogs and one goat on a property in Ellis County. This morning, the Italy Police Department obtained a seizure warrant and the SPCA of Texas took custody of the animals shortly thereafter. The owner was arrested for animal cruelty by the Italy Police Department.

SPCA of Texas vehicles transported the dogs to the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas and the goat to the Russell H. Perry Animal Care Center at 8411 Stacy Road in McKinney, where they are being examined by medical staff and will be cared for until the custody hearing.

The custody hearing will be held on Tuesday, August 11 at 10 a.m. at the Justice of the Peace, Pct. 2, located at 701 S. 1-35 E., Waxahachie, TX 75165, Judge Jackie Miller presiding.

"I'm absolutely in LOVE with Kitty (formerly Kaleigh). I know her name isn't original at all but I just started calling her that until I could think of a name and it just stuck - it's so her! I've attached two photos - she's seriously the most beautiful kitty in the world! She loves to steal tennis balls and bones from her dog sister - she thinks she's a dog! She enjoys going for walks and car rides, snuggling with mom, bird watching, drinking from the sink, playing with her pipe cleaners and getting into mom's makeup in the mornings. I couldn't 'imagine life without her. She's the absolute best!"
