Dogs and cats to get a new “leash” on life through animal transport program

(DALLAS/MCKINNEY,TX); April 25, 2017 — The SPCA of Texas today announced that it is one of 27 animal welfare organizations receiving grant funding to participate in the ASPCA & Subaru Loves Pets Rescue Ride program. For the fourth year, thanks to funding from Subaru of America, Inc., the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) is granting a total of $150,000 to animal welfare organizations across the country to fund the safe transport of shelter dogs from localities where supply exceeds demand to areas where the animals have a higher chance of adoption. The SPCA of Texas has received $7,500 to support the transport of animals from Dallas Animal Services to the SPCA of Texas.

“The SPCA of Texas is pleased to partner with the ASPCA & Subaru Loves Pets Rescue Ride grant program to help us find homes for the pets in our care,” said James Bias, SPCA of Texas President and CEO. “Working together with Dallas Animal Services, we can save many animals and enrich the lives of new adopting families.”

“As part of the Love Promise, we at Subaru are committed to keeping animals safe and healthy through programs such as the ASPCA & Subaru Loves Pets Rescue Ride,” said Bridget Hanrahan, Promotional/Sponsorship Manager, Subaru of America, Inc. “Alongside the ASPCA, we are proud to help fund transports for shelter dogs and improve their chances of finding a safe and loving home.”

"I'm absolutely in LOVE with Kitty (formerly Kaleigh). I know her name isn't original at all but I just started calling her that until I could think of a name and it just stuck - it's so her! I've attached two photos - she's seriously the most beautiful kitty in the world! She loves to steal tennis balls and bones from her dog sister - she thinks she's a dog! She enjoys going for walks and car rides, snuggling with mom, bird watching, drinking from the sink, playing with her pipe cleaners and getting into mom's makeup in the mornings. I couldn't 'imagine life without her. She's the absolute best!"
