The SPCA of Texas Presents the 26th Annual Home for the Holidays Event at NorthPark Center

November 14 - December 23, 2016

Adoption Pavilion--Featuring Adoptable Pets--Opens Black Friday, November 25, at Noon

(DALLAS, TX); Wednesday, November 23, 2016 – The SPCA of Texas is thrilled to present the 26th annual Home for the Holidays event at NorthPark Center from November 14 through December 23, 2016. This signature event brings shoppers and pet lovers together to raise awareness for homeless pets, and to help these wonderful animals find a forever, loving family.

The Home for the Holidays Adoption Pavilion, located at NorthPark Center on Level One between Macy's and Dillard's, will open on Black Friday, November 25, and run through Friday, December 23. The SPCA of Texas will feature adoptable pets every day from noon to 6 p.m. with the hope that over 300 animals will find their forever homes this holiday season. Since the SPCA of Texas' first year of Home for the Holidays in 1990, over 10,000 pets have been adopted. Children who came with their parents and adopted a pet, are now coming back as adults with their families and adopting again. This event is a holiday tradition for many families here in North Texas.

The Bark + Build luxury dog house raffle portion of Home for the Holidays, which kicked off November 14 with the installation of 24 custom-made dog houses at NorthPark Center on Level One between Dillard's and Macy's, will run through December 4. These one-of-a-kind dog houses were designed and built by the American Institute of Architects Dallas Chapter and TEXO, The Construction Association members. Raffle tickets are $5 a piece or five raffle tickets for $20, and are available at NorthPark Center, at and by texting "doghouse" to 91999. The drawings to select the winner of each dog house will be held on December 6, and the most popular doghouse (based on ticket sales) will be named "Top Dog."

All entries for AIA Dallas and TEXO, The Construction Association's Bark + Build Doghouse Design/Build Competition to benefit the SPCA of Texas' Home for the Holidays event were judged on both design and construction quality by a jury panel. This panel included Wes Houx of WFAA-TV, Channel 8; Monica Hernandez of WFAA-TV, Channel 8; Mary Spencer, animal advocate; Dr. Troy Cobb of VCA Central Expressway Animal Hospital; Luke Nolan, Senior Vice President at Willis Towers Watson; Cris Jordan, Landmark Commissioner for City of Dallas; Scott Humphrey, CPA of BKD CPA’s and Advisors; and Rhonda Reinhart, Editor-in-Chief of Modern Luxury Interiors Texas. Awards presented include: Best in Show (1st place): Humphreys & Partners Architects and Jordan Foster Construction for Pawhaus; Hot Dog Award (runner up): O’Brien Architects and Manhattan Construction for MVPup Clubhouse; Teacup Pup Award: Array Architects and Structure Tone Southwest for Barkelona Pavilion; Big Dog Award: PBK Architects and Mycon General Contractors for Doggie Domain; and Enviro Dog Award: HDR Architecture and Medco Construction for N-Vent-A-Haus. Honorable mentions include: Best Multi-Pup Housing: CM Architects and Cadence McShane Construction for K9 Condos; Best Texas Icon: The Beck Group for Old Barkland; Most Creative: Omniplan and VCC Construction for KDOG TV; and Most Fun: Quorum Architects and Modern Contractors for Playhouse.

"I'm absolutely in LOVE with Kitty (formerly Kaleigh). I know her name isn't original at all but I just started calling her that until I could think of a name and it just stuck - it's so her! I've attached two photos - she's seriously the most beautiful kitty in the world! She loves to steal tennis balls and bones from her dog sister - she thinks she's a dog! She enjoys going for walks and car rides, snuggling with mom, bird watching, drinking from the sink, playing with her pipe cleaners and getting into mom's makeup in the mornings. I couldn't 'imagine life without her. She's the absolute best!"
