(DALLAS, TX); Wednesday, November 22, 2017 – The SPCA of Texas is thrilled to present the 27th annual Home for the Holidays event at NorthPark Center from November 13 through December 23, 2017. This signature event brings shoppers and pet lovers together to raise awareness for homeless pets, and to help these wonderful animals find their forever, loving families.

The Home for the Holidays Adoption Pavilion, located at NorthPark Center on Level One between Macy's and Dillard's, will open on Black Friday, November 24, and run through Saturday, December 23. The SPCA of Texas will feature adoptable pets Sundays through Fridays from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 7 p.m. with the hope that over 350 animals will find their forever homes this holiday season at the Adoption Pavilion. Since the SPCA of Texas' first year of Home for the Holidays in 1990, over 10,000 pets have been adopted. Children who came with their parents and adopted a pet, are now coming back as adults with their families and adopting again. This event is a holiday tradition for many families here in North Texas.

The Bark + Build luxury Dog House Design/Build Competition and display portion of Home for the Holidays, which kicked off November 13 with the installation of 24 custom-made dog houses at NorthPark Center on Level One between Dillard's and Macy's, will run through December 3. These one-of-a-kind dog houses were designed and built by the American Institute of Architects Dallas Chapter and TEXO, The Construction Association members and auctioned off at this year's Housewarming Party, which was held on Sunday, November 19 at NorthPark Center.
All entries for AIA Dallas and TEXO, The Construction Association's Bark + Build Doghouse Design/Build Competition to benefit the SPCA of Texas' Home for the Holidays event were judged on both design and construction quality by a jury panel. This panel included Mary Spencer, Board Member of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens and former SPCA of Texas Board Member; Miguel Villareal, Senior Construction Manager of Crescent Real Estate; Monica Jacobs, HR Manager of DPR Construction; Rhonda Reinhart, Editor-in-Chief of Modern Luxury Texas; Dustin Clanton, Senior Associate of BKD, LLP; Phillip Craddock, Owner of Craddock Architecture; and Dr. Troy Cobb, Veterinarian at VCA Central Expressway Animal Hospital. "I'm absolutely in LOVE with Kitty (formerly Kaleigh). I know her name isn't original at all but I just started calling her that until I could think of a name and it just stuck - it's so her! I've attached two photos - she's seriously the most beautiful kitty in the world! She loves to steal tennis balls and bones from her dog sister - she thinks she's a dog! She enjoys going for walks and car rides, snuggling with mom, bird watching, drinking from the sink, playing with her pipe cleaners and getting into mom's makeup in the mornings. I couldn't 'imagine life without her. She's the absolute best!"
