Give a Rescued Dog a Home

Adoption Fees Waived for Dogs Rescued by the SPCA of Texas

October 21, 2014

WHAT:   In order to make space for more incoming dogs, the SPCA of Texas is waiving adoption fees this weekend only for all dogs either rescued from inhumane conditions by the SPCA of Texas’ Rescue and Investigations team or surrendered to the SPCA of Texas’ Rescue and Investigations team. This fee-waived adoption event is possible thanks to the generous support of VCA Animal Hospitals, and will be available from Friday, October 24 through Sunday, October 26 at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas and the Russell H. Perry Animal Care Center at 8411 Stacy Rd. in McKinney. The SPCA of Texas’ shelters are open seven days a week from noon to 6 p.m.

The SPCA of Texas currently has more than 40 rescued dogs awaiting their forever homes. These pets come from large-scale rescue situations where they were not receiving all of the care they needed. Some of these pets will need a specialized diet to help them gain weight, medication to help them finish healing from treatable external parasite infestations and/or some extra TLC to help shy dogs come out of their shells. These dogs will heal best in a home while adjusting to a loving forever family.

Adoption Specialists at the SPCA of Texas are trained to discuss each and every pet’s behavior and health history with potential adopters prior to adoption, and will help match people and pets in order to ensure the best match possible.

The SPCA of Texas invites the public to add a new, rescued family member this weekend at its Dallas and McKinney shelters.

SPCA of Texas Voices

"I'm absolutely in LOVE with Kitty (formerly Kaleigh). I know her name isn't original at all but I just started calling her that until I could think of a name and it just stuck - it's so her! I've attached two photos - she's seriously the most beautiful kitty in the world! She loves to steal tennis balls and bones from her dog sister - she thinks she's a dog! She enjoys going for walks and car rides, snuggling with mom, bird watching, drinking from the sink, playing with her pipe cleaners and getting into mom's makeup in the mornings. I couldn't 'imagine life without her. She's the absolute best!"
