SPCA of Texas Hosts Community Wellness Event at Umphress Park on September 9th

Offers Free Vaccinations and Microchips for Pets of People Living in Southern Dallas


WHAT:
The SPCA of Texas is hosting a free Community Wellness Event on Saturday, September 9th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Umphress Park in Dallas, TX, offering free DHPP/FVRCP, Bordetella and Rabies vaccinations as well as microchips for pets of people living in Southern Dallas. Residents of 23 Southern Dallas zip codes can also make appointments to have their pets spayed/neutered for free at a later date. This event is made possible thanks to a partnership with Duck Team 6 and generous funding provided by Arnie and Stacey Verbeek. The event is first come, first served, with no appointment required.

WHY: By providing vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries to 30,000 pets each year for the next three years as a part of the Southern Dallas Pet Initiative, the SPCA of Texas is working to drastically reduce the number of loose dogs and other pets in Southern Dallas, prevent the spread of common communicable diseases in pets and provide community outreach to make the streets of Southern Dallas a safer place for residents by helping people keep pets in homes, off the streets and out of shelters.  


HOW: This free event is made possible thanks to a generous donation by Arnie and Stacey Verbeek. Southern Dallas residents living in the following zip codes may bring their pets, with no appointment recquired, to receive free vaccinations and microchips for their pets, as well as make appointments their pets for free spay/neuter surgeries at a later date. The 23 covered zip codes are: 75116, 75134, 75203, 75207, 75208, 75210, 75211, 75212, 75215, 75216, 75217, 75223, 75224, 75226, 75227, 75228, 75232, 75233, 75236, 75237, 75241, 75249 and 75253.
