(DALLAS, Texas), March 17, 2016 – The SPCA of Texas has been selected to participate in the third annual Tournament of Tails, an online contest hosted by pet insurance provider, Petplan. It will be among 32 shelters competing for a share of the $10,900 purse — and is calling on the local community to vote for it in the bracket-inspired tournament.
Participating shelters have named a pet to represent them throughout the tournament in daily “one-on-one” matchups. Fans can view the furry contenders’ pictures and stories before voting to decide which pet will advance to the next round.
The SPCA of Texas has pawed 3 month old Chihuahua “Hoss” as its “player” for the tournament. The “Most Valuable Pet’s” first matchup is Friday, March 18. But Hoss is hoping for a chance to compete in the championship matchup on Monday, April 4 — and win the $5,000 grand prize for the SPCA of Texas!
No matter who comes out on top, every pet is a winner, earning their shelter a donation based on where their tournament run ends: $100 for “Terrific 32” finalists, $200 for the “Spirited 16,” $300 for the “Eager 8” and $500 for the “Final Fur.”
Tournament of Tails is a fun way to raise awareness for shelter pets while playing off of the country’s fascination with the college basketball tournament. Vote for Hoss on Friday, March 18 and help the SPCA of Texas earn a donation to help the organization rescue, heal and find homes for thousands of animals in need.
The SPCA of Texas encourages pet lovers to visit the Tournament of Tails website at www.gopetplan.com/tournament-of-tails to learn more about Hoss’s amazing story and to cast their vote. |
