SPCA of Texas and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry’s Third Annual “Home for the Holidays” Brings in Nearly $20 Thousand for Homeless Pets

Last month, the SPCA of Texas joined forces with the National Association of the Remodeling Industry  Greater Dallas and other community organizations for the third annual “Home for the Holidays” campaign featuring custom dog houses at NorthPark Center. In just over three weeks, the event raised nearly $20 thousand to benefit the SPCA of Texas’ 2014 efforts to rescue, heal and find homes for thousands of animals in North Texas. Home remodeling contractors volunteered their time and talent to create “one of a kind” dog/cat houses. Some ticket holders planned to use the house as a children’s playhouse if they won!

Thanks to this year’s community partners, including: Frances W. Allen, Hofmann Hots, Gary and Susie Johnson, Dr. Larry and Mrs. Joan Rogers, Katy Trail Animal Hospital and Highland Park Animal Clinic.

For 75 years, abused and neglected animals have received a second chance through the SPCA of Texas. When pet owners purchased a chance to win one of the seven custom 2014 “Home for the Holidays” Luxury Dog Houses, they helped thousands of animals find their own loving homes. All seven of the cleverly designed dog houses were on display at NorthPark Center between November 14 and December 8.

The SPCA of Texas is grateful to NorthPark Center and the members of the National Association of Remodeling Industry (NARI) for their generous support, creativity and friendship.

"I'm absolutely in LOVE with Kitty (formerly Kaleigh). I know her name isn't original at all but I just started calling her that until I could think of a name and it just stuck - it's so her! I've attached two photos - she's seriously the most beautiful kitty in the world! She loves to steal tennis balls and bones from her dog sister - she thinks she's a dog! She enjoys going for walks and car rides, snuggling with mom, bird watching, drinking from the sink, playing with her pipe cleaners and getting into mom's makeup in the mornings. I couldn't 'imagine life without her. She's the absolute best!"
