We screen all equine and livestock adopters to ensure that the potential home will provide each animal with appropriate space, companionship, and care. Please read the requirements for adoption on the online application page to make sure your home or boarding stable qualifies.

Livestock animals require a separate adoption application (this process is different from adopting a dog, cat or small mammal). You must complete this application before scheduling an appointment to meet any equine or livestock animal.

We do not require a commitment to keep an equine for its entire life. However, we do partner with our adopters to help ensure that equines make successful transitions to new vocations and new homes if needed.

We recognize that horses may not stay with a single owner for their entire lives, but we offer lifetime support for our adopted horses and they are always welcome back with us. If an adopter chooses to rehome a horse on their own, we simply request that they share the new owner’s information, so that we can extend that support to any future owners.

If we don’t have what you need currently we are a great starting place for looking, having many contacts in the North Texas area and beyond!

Interested in adopting a livestock animal?

We allow a small group of trusted and screened professional trainers to take on our horses in need of training at no cost, with the agreement that if they resell for over $2000, we get ten percent. If you are interested in this program please email the Equine Department at livestock@spca.org

"I'm absolutely in LOVE with Kitty (formerly Kaleigh). I know her name isn't original at all but I just started calling her that until I could think of a name and it just stuck - it's so her! I've attached two photos - she's seriously the most beautiful kitty in the world! She loves to steal tennis balls and bones from her dog sister - she thinks she's a dog! She enjoys going for walks and car rides, snuggling with mom, bird watching, drinking from the sink, playing with her pipe cleaners and getting into mom's makeup in the mornings. I couldn't 'imagine life without her. She's the absolute best!"
