Update on Adoptions at the SPCA of Texas

In an effort to reduce the potential for COVID-19 to spread to more people via gatherings of people and protect the health and well-being of the animals in our care, our staff and volunteers, as well as our community, the SPCA of Texas is closing our shelters, clinics, mobile adoption and mobile wellness events to the public starting Wednesday, March 18 through at least Sunday, April 5.

Meanwhile, we will continue in our mission to provide every animal exceptional care and a loving home. Please note that as of Tuesday, March 24:

  • We will not offer adoptions to the public during this time and will cease placing animals out to foster.
  • Animal care staff will continue to meet the daily needs of all of our shelter pets, who are not at risk of contracting or transmitting coronavirus.

For more, please visit our COVID-19 response page.

Thank you as well for your patience and understanding while we work to ensure not only the public’s safety, but also provide staff and volunteers with the opportunity to focus on their own health and personal care.

"I'm absolutely in LOVE with Kitty (formerly Kaleigh). I know her name isn't original at all but I just started calling her that until I could think of a name and it just stuck - it's so her! I've attached two photos - she's seriously the most beautiful kitty in the world! She loves to steal tennis balls and bones from her dog sister - she thinks she's a dog! She enjoys going for walks and car rides, snuggling with mom, bird watching, drinking from the sink, playing with her pipe cleaners and getting into mom's makeup in the mornings. I couldn't 'imagine life without her. She's the absolute best!"
