We opted for a simple traditional form for our doggy abode. With an eye for sustainability we harvested cedar picket fence slats from the designer’s backyard with which to build this masterpiece. Reclaimed fence slats were laminated into exterior wall panels which are supported by a heavy-timber cedar frame. 2,000 glass beads (a portion of which were reused), pop-top-bottle-tops and a signature reclaimed artist-signed glass window were also incorporated into this sustainable design.

We incorporated natural ventilation into our doggy-haven with our historically accurate operable farm-house window design. The window can be open and closed as required to provide passive ventilation to the occupant. Having studied our subject dogs – Wilson and Big – we came to the realization that dogs like the cooling-effects of concrete floors so we installed a glass floor in the doghouse.

We always intended for the roof to be removable so-as-to provide access to the interior for maintenance, thus the name #PopTopDoghouse. To add a bit of whimsy to our doghouse we incorporated pop-top-bottle-openers to further reinforce our PopTop theme.

Our mission was to create the most sustainable, accommodating and enduring doghouse ever built. Mission achieved? We think so.
