VIP Club Header

As you can imagine, animals are happiest when they’re in a nurturing home. But while they’re with us, our staff and volunteers give their all to provide a high level of care. By donating to the SPCA of Texas you will ensure that all of our animals receive the individual care that will keep them healthy and happy and, ultimately, more adoptable. You’ll also support the SPCA’s many programs and services that bring people and animals together to enrich each others' lives.

A VIP is any animal (excluding livestock) that has been available for adoption for over 30 days.  We invite you to join the VIP Club, to tell everyone you know about how they can become a part of the VIP Club and receive our monthly flyers and post them at work, in your neighborhood and around town to help give our VIP Club animals more exposure and to hopefully get them out of our shelters and on with their lives. Thank you for your support and care for all the animals at the SPCA of Texas!

November 17, 2008

Hi, Folks.  I'm Lashay, a young (8 months old), female, energetic, bundle of furry love by day and ace detective by night.  The very best part of the day is going on walks with the humans who visit the SPCA Dealey Pet Adoption Center.  I could walk with you forever as long as you stopped every now and then to scratch me behind the ears.  Well, almost forever...a doggie nap is a fine thing, too.

The days are good here, but tails really start wagging after the shelter closes for the night.  Just last night I was dancing to the music our band was playing.  When the band took a break, I thought I heard a puppy crying so I went to check it out.  Sure enough, little Brownie was whimpering.  His blankie was gone.  He couldn't find it anywhere.

"Brownie," I said, "I'm just the girl for this job.  I'll find your blankie."

"Thanks, Lashay," Brownie said as he sucked on his paw.

Who could have taken Brownie's blanket, I wondered.  Off I went, nose to the floor.  I didn't smell the blanket's scent near any of the other puppies.  Now I'd check out the "big dog" area.  I caught the scent, but didn't see the evidence.

I was on the trail.  I followed hallways and threaded my way through groups of dogs barking, scratching, and generally having a good time.  I didn't stop to play.  Little Brownie needed me and I wasn't going to let him down.  The scent was getting stronger.  Suddenly, it ended right at a big closed door.

My terrific nose had done the work to this point, but now I needed some brute strength.  I let out a howl for help and my friends came running.  That door didn't stand a chance against American Bull Terriers, Labrador Retrievers, Boxers, and Rotweilers.  They kept it open while I searched.  Finally, I found the blanket in a basket beside the washing machine.  It hadn't been stolen after all.  Someone was going to wash it so it would be nice and clean for Brownie.  I thanked my friends for their help and hurried back to Brownie with his treasure.

"I don't care if it's dirty.  I love it just the way it is," Brownie said as he circled and then curled up on his favorite thing.  "Lashay, you are my hero!"

What a great night.  Being a hero feels fantastic.

And you can become my hero by giving me a forever home.  Come visit me soon.  I'm the medium-sized, sable brown dog with perky ears, chocolate eyes, and soft, short fur.  I've got loads of love to give you.

Bashful! Look at my picture! Do I look “Bashful” to you? I’m front and center, just how I like things. Don’t get me wrong, I love my littermates. I mean, sometimes we scrap, just like brothers and sisters, but I do enjoy having others around me. That doesn’t mean I like them stealing the show!!

I love the SPCA. It’s the only home I have ever known. Sometimes I wonder when I am going to get my own family, though. See, the other gerbils have told me about having a family, and I think it sounds fabulous.

I heard one guy talk about how his owner used to give him his own paper towel tube and he got to shred THE WHOLE THING!!! Can you imagine? Your own tube that you could play with and tear up and walk around on!  Wow!!

Another guy was talking about getting lettuce and apples and peas and carrots for dinner! I don’t even know what a carrot is, but it sounds delicious and I would love for my new mom or dad to introduce me to some cool new things like that!

With Christmas coming, I would make a wonderful addition! I could fit in a stocking! You could put me under the tree. People say the nice thing about gerbils is that we are so quiet and clean and pleasant. I don’t even need a fancy cage, just some space to move around in and build my nest.

Come meet me! Come see how BASHFUL I really am!

Hi Guys!!!

I love it when people stop by my kennel to pet me and love me, but looking at my picture on-line is almost as good!

I came to the SPCA of Texas in September because of a the Hurricanes. The SPCA Rescue and Investigations team brought me up here to Dallas for a chance at a new family. The SPCA of Texas is FUN!!! Right now I am taking these very cool classes that teach us things like "sit" (which seems to be VERY popular with you guys!), and other neat tricks. You’ll have to come see them in person, though, to really get the full effect.

I am a very pretty girl. I have shiny black hair and beautiful brown eyes. People say I have a ton of energy - I think that just means that I like to go for walks and play with the tennis balls that the volunteers throw for me.

I would love to have a family to watch over, protect, and love. I dream of my own yard.  I would run around in it and sniff every corner!

With Christmas coming, know what would make the perfect present for your family??? ME!!! I am the gift that keeps on giving! Bring every family member down to the shelter and meet me today.

I’m the ‘Tom Cruise’ of this shelter… But people around here call me by my code name: Billy.

I’m disguised as a three-year-old Domestic Shorthair mix tabby, but I’m really a secret agent.  See, my mission is to find my forever home.  I am friendly and loving to everyone that visits me at the shelter.  I like to relax and snuggle up to you so you will rub my back and tail.  I hope when you come to visit the shelter you get to feel how incredibly soft I am!  I believe that’s one of the reasons you will want to help me find my forever home and complete my mission.

I don’t believe my mission is “impossible.”  Many of my friends I have made at the shelter have been adopted already, so now, it’s my turn!  Will you help me complete my mission and give me a forever home today?

This message will self-destruct in 30 seconds.  Call 214-742-7722 today!
