Pet Fest 2009 - The Wizard of Paws
What better way to celebrate home, families and best friends than a walk down the Yellow Brick Road to the SPCA of Texas in Collin County for the sixth annual Hill’s Science Diet Pet Fest, the Wizard of Paws.
Families and their best canine friends came out to enjoy Pet Fest on Saturday, September 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the SPCA of Texas’ Perry Animal Care Center at 8411 Stacy Road/FM 720, McKinney, TX 75070. Parking and admission were free.
Despite the overcast, drizzly weather, about 200 people and their pets came out to enjoy vendor booths, yummy snacks, entertaining carnival games, arts and crafts and music provided by Mix 102.9 and The Morning Mix’s Victoria Snee.
“We were pleased to see a good crowd despite the weather,” said James Bias, SPCA of Texas president. “Pet Fest is all about celebrating the human-animal bond and having fun together at the SPCA of Texas beautiful Perry Animal Care Center.”
“Munchkin Land” featured arts and crafts, face painting and games. “The Emerald City Marketplace” was a popular place to be with vendor booths, tasty treats, prizes for visiting every booth on the Yellow Brick Road and a special table featuring the SPCA of Texas’ Pet University program.
“Toto’s Territory,” just for dogs, included a puppy pool play area, paw painting and pet and people photography by Suzanne Demaree. If you had photos taken at Pet Fest, you may purchase them on Suzanne's website (http://suzannedemareephotographer.com/)
Two big hits of the day were the McKinney Police K9 Unit demonstrations and the Dallas Dog and Disc Club exhibitions.
