Happily Back At Home!

We are reunited with Iggy!

On October 17th we lost our 15 year old cat, Iggy, in Heritage Ranch of Fairview Texas. I'm very happy to report that on Thurs. November 5th, Iggy was spotted in the bushes of a nearby home. With some coaxing, we were able to bring him home! Though he has lost alot of weight, he seems happy and is gradually regaining his appetite. We are overjoyed! We truly appreciate everyone's effort in finding him.

I Am One Happy Lab!!!

Brother of three finds his way home with the help of DFW PetNet.....

It was a dark and stormy day when I decided to have my “little adventure”, well, that’s what everyone is calling it but to me it was more of a “mini vacation” because I had a blast!!

I really hadn’t planned on going on a trip but when I was let out into the backyard to go potty I heard a really loud and scary “BOOM” then I heard it again and again and again! Then, I got wet and let me tell you…… I HATE BEING WET! I was feeling icky and ready to go back in when suddenly I heard the biggest BOOM you could imagine…… yeah…… at that point I was outta there!! You should have seen it! I flew over that fence like I was Super Dog and I ran for the hills! The hills ended up being a lot further away then what I had thought so I changed my mind and started using my nose. Sniff sniff here and a sniff sniff there and that’s when I was lead to Jerry’s house.

AHHHHH relaxing Jerry’s house, wow, I was in a land of giants! There are 3 Great Danes, one 32 pound black cat named Lucky (I found out that he came from a Irving Shelter) and my new bestest friend “Calle”! She is a 13 year old Finnish Spitz that I loved playing with! Now, the best thing about Jerry is….. all I had to do was knock once and she let me in! She gave me food and water, a nice place to sleep and even the new name of Preston!  Life was great!

Even though Jerry loved having me around she knew that I had to have a really sad family out there looking for me because I am “far too well behaved to be a stray”. So she took a very handsome photo of me and posted my story to DFW PetNet. Little did she know but my family had been searching for me everywhere!

My family…… I have such a wonderful family! My sisters all look exactly the same and there are THREE of them! I love them all soooo much and boy oh boy did I miss them! To be honest as much I loved being with Jerry and Calle I really missed my sisters.

Suddenly, not too long after I was posted on DFW PetNet, the phone rang and guess what?! It was my sisters!! They had seen my handsome photo and knew that it was me!! When they finally got there to pick me up I was so so so happy that I ran up to each one of them and gave my special kisses out like they were candy! They were just as happy because they too gave me some of the sweetest human kisses and hugs in the world! We all started to leave when, being the gentleman that I am, I turned around to tell Jerry good bye and thank you .........  it looked as if she was so happy that she had tears in her eyes.

I am so happy to be back home now :)! Although, I must admit that I missed Jerry and Calle so much that I had to go back and see them one more time! Only this time I didn’t get to stay as long because she already knew how to get a hold of my mom and dad…… What? I really missed them, so I had to go and see them again! :)

Thank you so much Jerry for taking such wonderful care of me, thank you Calle for being my bestest friend and thank you DFW PetNet for helping me to get back home to my loving sisters.

"Hi Martin, my name is Cliff, I have Lanie and she's okay"

Fourth of July happy ending story! Lessons are learned and hearts are reunited!! Welcome home Lanie!!

The 4th of July holiday is enjoyed by people young and old! Some of us party and have cook-outs while others relax by the pool with family and friends. No matter how we celebrate when the sun is up, at end of the day we all come together for the same thing, to watch the sky light up with the beautiful colors from the FIREWORK SHOWS!! Adults feel like children and kids are filled with excitement with every CRACK and BOOM we become more and more enchanted and less aware of our surroundings.  We fail to realize that our best furry friends are not having such a good time.

We see the beautiful colors and shapes of the fireworks…. Our dogs see nothing but bright lights falling from the sky. We hear the crackles and booms but we know they are just part of the experience……… To our dogs those sounds are amplified 10 fold so they are painful to hear. The bright lights combined with the horrid sounds and the yells from the crowds and this becomes a truly terrifying and confusing time. This happened to Martin and his sweet German Shepherd “Lanie”.

Lanie was so afraid that she managed to escape from the grasp of Martin and dart off into the safety and cover of some near by woods! This was devastating to her owner but he started the search for her right away. He and his friends canvassed the area for hours but there was no sign of her. Luckily, Lanie had been micro-chipped and tattooed just in case something like this was to ever happen. Here is the story of how Lanie made her way back into Martins arms 9 days later.

“I received a call from AVID indicating they received a call from a veterinarian in Grapevine, Texas.  Within 5 minutes I received a 2nd call, this time from a gentleman that said “Hi Martin, my name is Cliff, I have Lanie and she’s okay”.  I called the gentlemen back and introduced myself and we started talking about Lanie.  His sister found Lanie curled up next to a liquor store in Northwest Highway in Dallas.  She kept Lanie for a couple of days, while she called several shelters to see if someone was looking for her.  Somehow, I didn’t know she was being reported as found and she wasn’t aware someone had reported her missing.  She gave Lanie to her brother in Grapevine about a week ago.  Cliff noticed the tattoo in her right ear and realized this is a dog that someone was missing.  He brought her to the vet to have her scanned, they called AVID and well you know the rest.  I have met some pretty decent people and I am happy to call the Dallas area my new home.  I don’t think I would have been able to tell such a happy story had I not lived here.

I only wish that people were better parents to their animal children.  I have seen many pets these past 9 days that have had a very difficult time and certainly deserve better.  I love my little girl and I couldn’t rest until she was safe and sound in my arms.  She is sleeping against my leg as I am typing this message.

I met the sister, which is the lady that actually found Lanie and rescued her.  She is an amazing lady and I know that Lanie was lucky to have been found by her.  It sounds like she was staying with her the whole time.  She mentioned that Lanie was very stressed out and wouldn’t stop pacing the 1st couple of days.  Lanie ended up running away from there and she put up fliers in her neighborhood too, but Lanie came back.   She was one of the nicest people and I kept thanking her for saving my little girl and helping to bring her back home to me. “

Welcome Home Giovanni!!

Never give up when you are missing a pet, consistence and perseverance are key!

The SPCA of Texas had sent an e-mail with suggestions.  I had already canvassed my neighborhood, put a flyer on every door, placed ads online and in the Dallas Morning News, but did not think about many of the suggestions.

I started calling him late at night and very early in the morning, rattled his jingle ball or a bag of food as I called him, placed several of his brother’s things in the front and back yard.  Since he just appeared in the back yard Friday evening, I am convinced that these are the things that brought him home!

Thank you for being there and giving me the suggestions that I know gave him the way home.
